When you are decorating your home, one of the most important decisions you will make is what type of rug to choose. Not only do rugs add comfort and style to a room, but they can also be a key factor in the overall design. In this blog post, we will discuss some tips on how to pick the perfect rug for your home. We will also provide information on some of our favorite wool rugs, and how to choose the right color and style for your space. Thanks for reading!

How to design your home with rugs

Rugs can add both style and comfort to your home. But with so many different types and sizes of rugs available, it can be tricky to know how to choose the right one for your space. Here are a few tips to help you select the perfect rug for your home:

First, consider the size of the room. A small rug in a large space will look odd, while a too-big rug can make a small room feel cramped.
Think about the purpose of the rug. Is it for decoration, or do you need it for comfort or warmth?
Choose a material that is durable and easy to clean. Wool or synthetic fibers are good choices for high traffic areas.
Consider the color and pattern of the rug. Choose something that complements your existing furniture and decor.

With these guidelines in mind, you’re sure to find the perfect rug for your home.

How to choose the perfect wool rug for your Vancouver home

There are many things to consider when selecting a wool rug in Vancouver for your home. The first step is to decide what type of wool rug you would like. There are two main types of wool rugs: hand-woven and machine-woven. Hand-woven rugs are made by skilled artisans and typically have a more unique design. Machine-woven rugs are mass-produced and often have a more uniform appearance. Once you have decided on the type of wool rug you would like, the next step is to choose the right size. Wool rugs come in all shapes and sizes, so it is important to measure the space where you plan to put the rug before making your purchase. Finally, you will need to choose a color or pattern that matches your personal style. With so many choices available, it can be helpful to ask for help from a professional interior designer. With their guidance, you can find the perfect wool rug for your home.

3 designer tips for choosing the perfect rug in Vancouver

A rug can be a powerful design element in any room, but choosing the right one can be tricky. Here are three tips to help you select the perfect rug for your space:

1. Consider the size of the room. A too-small rug can make a space feel cramped, while a too-large rug can overwhelm it. It’s important to strike a balance, so take careful measurements before you start shopping.

2. Think about the activities that will take place in the room. A high-traffic area like a entryway or kitchen will need a durable rug that can withstand heavy foot traffic. A bedroom or living room, on the other hand, is a good place to experiment with different textures and materials.

3. Think about your personal style. Do you prefer clean and simple lines, or do you like more ornate details? Choose a rug that reflects your personal taste and complements the overall style of your home.

By following these simple tips, you’ll be sure to find a rug that’s perfect for your space.

Why stage homes with beautiful rugs increase the chance of selling

When potential homebuyers are looking for a new house, they want to be able to imagine themselves living there. They want to see how their furniture would fit into the space and get a sense for the flow of the rooms. Unfortunately, many houses on the market fall short in this regard. They may be well-built and located in desirable neighborhoods, but they lack personality. This is where staging comes in. By furnishing a house with beautiful rugs, you can instantly add warmth and style. Rugs can help to define spaces and create visual interest. They can also add color and pattern, making a bland room feel more inviting. Best of all, rugs are relatively inexpensive, meaning that you can make a big impact without breaking the bank. So if you’re looking to sell your home quickly and for top dollar, don’t underestimate the power of a well-chosen rug.

Color temperature of light - what you should know?

You could just search for a dry scientific description from the wikipedia that describes the differences between the glow of sources with different color temperatures, but this is unlikely to be informative for our interior design case. In addition, modern lamps and chandeliers, due to their design, shape, color and features of work, have some extent that influenced the terminology when describing the actual light picture. Perhaps the only constant reference point for scientists and just specialists in the field of lighting engineering is the temperature scale, graduated in Kelvin. We propose to consider the ranges in which this or that glow falls.

Warm light lies at the beginning of the scale – usually means a gap between 1000 K and 3500 K. When describing such kind of glow from a lower value to a larger one, an ordinary person will use the words “reddish”, “orange”, “lemon”, “yellow” and “light yellow”. In this range, a fire burns, a match and a candle shine, and it’s an ordinary incandescent bulb lights.

Neutral light is actually a transitional light from warm to cold. Its color temperature range is 3500-6000 K. To describe such glow imagine a white light without clearly distinguishable shades of yellow or bluish tones. The middle part of this interval falls on the radiation of the sun on a fine day: lower color temperatures are conventionally a morning or summer light pattern, and larger ones are pre-twilight time or an autumn day. It is now technologically the easiest to obtain this glow color, and therefore it can be found in halogen, gas-discharge, and LED models. Neutral lights is good for pieces of art in the room. If there is a need to highlight a painting for example, you will probably consider neutral lights, because this way a painting or sculpture would keep their own color structure, galleries prefer neutral picture light too.

Cold light is on the other side of this scale, relative to neutral. Its color temperatures lie in the range of 6000-10000 K. As the value increases, it is described as “sky”, “bluish”, “light blue”, “bluish” and “pronounced blue”. In nature, such a glow is practically not found, but artificially it can be obtained in halogen lamps, and in LED lamps, and using inert gases – argon, neon, xenon, etc.

Attentive readers probably managed to note that the path from warm to cold in numerical terms does not correspond to the usual logic. It must be remembered that a warm glow will have a lower color temperature, and a cold glow will have a higher one. This is due to the very physics of the process, and the use of the scale in its current form is well established, so you just have to always keep this aspect in mind when choosing bulbs by temperature.

 What shade to choose?

On the Internet, you can find a lot of articles whose authors dive too deeply. They write that light bulbs with a cold glow color have a negative effect on the visual system, and models with an overly warm shade increase fatigue. Thus, products with a neutral shade are automatically brought to the fore – as the closest to nature, evolutionarily familiar to humans. In reality, the alignment of forces looks a little different.

From a medical point of view, the human eye is one of the most adaptable organs. It is impossible to spoil your eyesight by reading by the light of a wall lamp with a light bulb of a certain color temperature. But it is very easy to tire your eyes with insufficient illumination received from any lamp. Thus, the more important characteristic is the brightness of the source, rather than its chromaticity. In summary, we can only advise consumers not to read in dim light and not to save energy at the cost of their health, but to always purchase light bulbs with a suitable power for the circumstances. Moreover, modern LED solutions are already extremely economical.

Another issue is the psychological state. This is where the color factor really matters. The environment affects the reaction rate, attention, concentration, sense of space, comfort level and, only as a consequence, the degree of fatigue. Let’s consider all this in a little more detail.

Moderately warm shades usually have a calming effect, but do not completely relax a person, do not incline him to sleep. Cold light, on the contrary, irritates our brain a little – and the longer we stay in such an environment, the more. The neutral-warm shade allows you to relax comfortably without losing control over what is happening, it maintains sufficient brain activity, and therefore muscle tone. Neutral-cold tones perfectly increase concentration, stimulate a person to move, do work, and not sit idle. Just a neutral glow does not have a pronounced effect – at the subconscious level, we perceive it as the light of the sun, which seems completely natural, and therefore is actually leveled.

Is it possible to say unequivocally that the ideal solution is a neutral day shade? In our opinion, no. Both combinations, transitional states to other coloristic tonesare needed for work and for rest. Perhaps the only conclusion where there is no need to argue is that cold lighting, especially with a high color temperature, does not have a widespread practical application – it is used only for specific tasks. But the rest of the spectrum, from pronounced yellow through warm and neutral to neutral-cold, has the right to be used in everyday life, in production, in office premises, in housing and communal services, in trade and entertainment.

Instead of a conclusion

The endless debate about which shade of glow is best is often shattered by misconceptions about the nature of light. In addition to color temperature and brightness, there are also such characteristics as luminous flux density and illumination, color rendering level and pulsation coefficient, direction, degree of reflection, polarization, etc. All of them are intertwined with each other in different combinations, forming a variety of light patterns. There are those that are ignored by the organs of vision, but are noted by the brain (for example, flicker, which we recently wrote about in a separate article), but there are also those that are almost not important for a person (polarization).

Separately, it is necessary to note the fact that the perception of the light pattern is individual for each person. In an era of a huge variety of models, it is imperative to experiment a little with colors and glow intensity in order to find the most optimal ones for yourself. The popular formula of “neutral light for the living room, warm light for the bedroom, and cool light for the bathroom” is not as universal as it seems. In residential interiors, where there are a lot of cabinets and upholstered furniture, it often makes sense to focus on transitional neutral-warm tones, in the bedroom – simply reduce the power of the sources, and not switch all the chandeliers and sconces to light bulbs with a yellow glow. In addition, even in bathrooms, where there are a lot of already cold ceramic tiles, it often makes sense, on the contrary, to create a warmer atmosphere.

Hand-made: Interior with your own hands

It seems that the fashion for real hand-made is beginning to subside, and along with this a new interior design trend, conventionally called “pseudo-hand-made”, is breaking out. The paradox of the phenomenon is that today’s Internet dwellers are still actively exchanging links to all sorts of designer works that can be copied, but this is no longer cool. While it used to be possible to create a sensation by answering the question “Where did you buy it?” with “I knitted it myself,” now the situation is exactly the opposite. “Tied on needles” watches can cause bewilderment and ridicule at the whims of the artist, who made it, – but surely, upon learning that it is the work of the Italian design studio, the guest will immediately bury all his skepticism. Apparently, the fashion is born from a sense of contradiction – because of the abundance of manual work, which has become wildly popular in recent years, the latest trend is not the manual work itself, but the thing that pretends to be it.

The Division of Labor
The author of any hand-made work (no matter what kind, in this case interior work) is a risky person. Already because he understands that even though highly valued in the buying environment of manual labor, but does not bring the hand-meider itself much profit. Consumables cost a pretty penny; each order takes as much time as a soulless mechanism in the shop would spend to produce a hundred or even thousands of units; as a result, it is not possible to increase the flow of customers. Creative people who simply enjoy creating remain in one group, the owners of small businesses, while the second group consists of people with a commercial vein, future millionaires, who feel the trend of large-scale production and handmade under one roof.

Pseudo-arm work
Why bother working on one lighting fixture when you can make a whole batch of them? But not just any nameless lot, but designed by a particular designer.
A popular trend in the “two thousandths” is to “mimic” hand-made fixtures in the textile niche. The manufacturer convinces the public that the product is exclusive, one-of-a-kind. The public believes and gladly buys pseudo-handmade home accessories. Such as?

The woven mats.
They used to be used to cover the floors. For simple work on the loom, women took multi-colored scraps of rags, a half to two centimeters long, twisted on the spindle and wove a so-called carpet. More often it was striped. A less strict variation was with butterflies or bows. Circular shaped poloviks were crocheted or sewn from scraps. These days, the village tradition has conquered the city dwellers as well.

Rugs made of thin, “napkin” cloth, remotely similar to their counterparts, are somehow similar to the kitchen towels. Striped, embroidered on white monolithic fabric, with folk ornaments, they perform a decorative function. The obscenely low cost is more of a plus. They make a clump and do not warm your feet – that’s more of a minus.

Light fixtures
How can a light fixture be textile and still meet the rules of fire safety? Very simple: at the heart of it is a cold LED bulb, which does not heat the fabric. Soft light fixture – it’s a real godsend for children’s rooms, especially if the family has karapuzy, who just started to walk and are happy to break some mom’s ban. Your child’s fingers will not get hurt when in contact with the night light. Felt, made from sheep’s wool or goat’s down, is a favorite material of children’s designers. It is recommended to take care of eco-lighting like a favorite wool sweater: gentle washing of the woven part in cool water.

If felt products evoke cozy cottage motifs, then the lights made of paper turn the living room, bedroom or hallway into the living area of an advanced city dweller. The fashion trend is borrowed from Japan. Traditional lanterns (andons for the street and okiandons for the premises) consisted of a body with a cotton wick and lampshade. For centuries, the Japanese chose rice paper for the lampshade, which was much more durable than ordinary handwritten paper because of its long fibers. As an additional protection against spontaneous combustion Oriental craftsmen cover it with a special impregnation.

Pillows
Pillow is perhaps the most important item, on which needleworkers practice, but today large manufacturers can outdo them in the intricacy of decoration, and the painstaking care. It is not uncommon to see in the stores cushions of artificially aged fabrics, as if they had just been taken out of the trunk. Linen, lace upholstery, embroidery in small flowers – do you recognize the style of Russian folk craft? And the wool, stitched pieces of rough satin, large seams on the perimeter, deliberately made on the outside of the product, already give away the pillow with English origin. Another common variant for self-made cushions is the shape reminiscent of animal outlines, for example, two cats with their tails wrapped around each other. There are also classic square pillows, but the front side has a pocket, and a hare or a hippo sticking out of it. Finally, there is the fashion for pillow designs.

Handmade
interior items

Is it possible to make a beautiful, stylish, exclusive something in 30 minutes from handmade tools? The ultramodern grimoire on handmade is updated daily with new letters on how to create unique interior items with your own hands.

Fauna + Flora Rug.
Smooth rug with natural ornaments in a small size. It makes the same impression as a large one. And all because a bright print with a sense of humor will enliven even a boring room.

For the effect you need:

  • heavy fabric, preferably water-repellent;
  • cardboard;
  • scissors, English pins;
  • fabric paint, or felt-tip pens for drawing on fabric (Krylon pens).

Wide cardboard is needed for the stencil. Draw the outline of the future rug. Do not strive for the correctness of the lines, your “author’s style” is more suitable for the craft. Mark the animal or flower stripes with bold lines. Cut them out in cardboard, and then transfer them to the fabric through a stencil fixed with needles. Finish the stripes if necessary. Once the paint has dried, fix part of the rug under the furniture. Get ready to receive compliments from guests!

Beautiful marble effect.
Heavy marble stone won’t fit in every apartment. Handmade marble, on the other hand, is a lightweight effect of noble texture.

Collect:

  • Nail polish, 2-3 colors + clear;
  • clear glasses;
  • container;
  • acetone;
  • toothpicks;
  • masking tape.

    Marble surface with their own handsDecor in marble Coffee table design Tray with their own hands Black table in the living room Marble decor elements

Limit the painting area with scotch tape. Next, prepare to act very quickly, as the varnish hardens quickly. Pour water into a container, open the varnishes and drop a little of each, one on top of the other. Swipe the toothpick 5-6 times over the resulting stain to mix the shades. Dip the part of the glass prepared for the pattern into it.

As soon as the varnish grabs onto the surface, gently but confidently pull it out. Wait until the object dries and fix what you have obtained with transparent enamel, and wipe off the unnecessary with acetone. You can assemble a whole set this way!

Decorating with photos on a backing
Large forms with real images will turn the hall, hallway, kitchen into an art space. It takes a little imagination and:

  • a photo of good quality (resolution from 300 dpi);
  • plastic base;
  • wall hooks;
  • double-sided adhesive tape.

Choose a photo with meaning. Black and white or color doesn’t really matter. Determine the size, add to it on all sides about 5 cm for folds. Print the photo. Wrap lightweight plastic (thin foam plastic is acceptable) of the desired area, secure the edges with tape. You can use glue, but choose clear glue. Add fasteners to the inside. Now the happy moment of your life will be repeated again when you look at the canvas.

Pop art in the interior
Note for the photographer: a spectacular photo triptych will turn out if one picture is divided into three parts and executed on separate substrates.

An interior garden of living plants
A modified hedge for urban housing made of succulents. These are small plants with a special tissue structure that holds water for a long time. Combinations of many species look futuristic. That’s why designers love “fatty plants.”

Take:

  • plants;
  • metal mesh;
  • a potting vessel;
  • nails;
  • soil, drainage.

Those who at least once planted any flowers, you should not have any difficulties. Pour drainage (better for cacti) in a pot, or a specially allocated container in the furniture, soil, lay a grid on top. Secure it on top with staples, nails, or a frame of wood if you want beautiful edges of the pot. Plant the succulents close together so there is no empty space between them. Water liberally, but on fully dried soil, spray with a fine sprayer, enjoy the eco-interior!

Improvised fruit bowl.
Glassware is a versatile transformer for assembling new patterns of utensils.

Find for the transformation:

  • 2 glasses;
  • 3 plates of different diameters from 20 cm;
  • water-resistant glue.
  • Fruit bowl with your own hands

Wash all the parts with glass cleaner, let dry, degrease with alcohol or vodka with a cotton pad, working particularly carefully on the joints. Pedantically apply a particularly strong bonding compound to the edges of the glass, without missing a millimeter. Place the glass strictly in the center of the plate, pressing down firmly. For a three-story fruit bowl, repeat the operation 2 times. Try not to go over the edge and not to get your fingers dirty. If necessary, remove excess adhesive. Use as soon as the product is completely dry. Except for fruit, berries, suitable for tartlets with caviar or jam. Wash as normal dishes.

Interior design ideas with their own hands

Vertical landscaping, decorative fireplace with candles, restoration and decoupage of old furniture – original ideas for interior design with your own hands, capable of changing your apartment beyond recognition.

Most solutions do not require special skills and work with complex tools. Everything you need can buy in any construction store. But in some cases, the help of specialists will not be superfluous. In any case, it is up to you to decide.

Vertical landscaping – decorating ideas.
The ideal solution for small-sized apartments, in which it is not possible to place live flowers and other plants because of the banal lack of space. There is no place to put them horizontally – create vertical green areas.

As a basis you can use a wire construction, a thin rack with earth pockets, but it’s much easier to buy a plastic phytomodule.

Phytomodules are characterized by their lightness and aligned design. They are easy to install on any surface, plastic requires almost no maintenance – it is not subject to corrosion, does not rot.

After installing the base, choose the plants. It is best to choose flowers and herbs with a developed root system, in particular:

Ampelous plants – philodendron, hoya, scindapsus.

Ornamental grapes – for example, Amur grapes.

Spathiphyllums, fitonias, sanseviers.

Interior design with their own hands when landscaping will become easier if you think through the location of the phytomodule in advance. If it will be in a hot room, the moisture-loving plants will require constant watering. So it makes sense to choose flowers and herbs that are resistant to dry soil or buy hydroponics systems.

RESTORATION – INTERIOR DESIGN AND DECOR WITH YOUR OWN HANDS
Give grandmother’s cupboards, tables and drawers a second life through independent restoration. Let’s make a reservation: with your own forces you can cope only with decoration and minimal repairs (for example, with grinding worktops and replacing fittings).

If the framework and the basic elements of the structure are damaged, you will have to go to the masters. Popular ways to decorate old furniture:

  • Decoupage.
  • Painting.
  • Carving on wood.
  • Bright fittings.
  • 3D ornaments.

If with the first four methods everything is clear, then the creation of 3D ornaments raises questions. This is a non-trivial solution for interior design with your own hands, which involves the creation of patterns using fittings. For example, ornaments in the Moroccan style with twisted metal buttons. Such patterns create luxurious visual effects.

DECORATIVE FIREPLACE WITH CANDLES
An interior design idea for the living room is a decorative fireplace with candles.
Create a really cozy apartment interior design with your own hands – a decorative fireplace can be made even from cardboard, but it is better to give preference to a more durable construction on a frame basis. To do this, screw a steel sheet to the floor and fix a metal frame on it (it can be ordered from any welder, less often you can buy ready-made).

Next, trim the frame with sheets of plasterboard and mask the seams with masking tape. The finished construction can be pasted with heavy paper with imitation brickwork. Another idea for interior design with their own hands: use electric candles instead of lamps. They are surprisingly in harmony with the decorative fireplace, look natural and bring a note of romantic comfort.

Steampunk in the interior of the house with their own hands

Steampunk is steam and punk in one “bottle. How does it go together? Let us tell you. In art in general, a lot of interesting and bizarre, we’ll even say that the symbolic. The style was born out of a fantastic literary genre – works about alternative civilizations, in which the main role was given to steam engines and various mechanisms.

With the steam and everything is clear, why in the name also appear “trash, waste”? The scientists themselves have no unequivocal answer. Someone believes that this is an allusion to the lower strata of society, others – the basic materials from which the “tools” of steampunk are made: metal spare parts, the waste of mechanisms. Others associate the term with a protest against the dominance of urbanization, technological process and commonplace. In the pursuit of imaginary progress people forget about sincerity, normal human relationships, their individuality and the present.

In the interior style reflects the Victorian era, dreams of the grand development of steam technology, mechanisms, and not electronics, as it happens now. Designers when decorating rooms try to immerse themselves in the life of 19th century society, to convey their passion for complex mechanics and their belief in its success, which will pave the way to an amazing future.

In fact, it is a fantasy about a parallel world, a reference to all the famous works of Jules Verne, Herbert Wells and other fantasy writers.

The trend was formed by the 80s of the last century and is briefly described as “the future from the past”. Among the main varieties are science fiction, urban and industrial. And each of them is difficult to imagine without a large number of pipes, levers, unusual devices, all kinds of lights and gears. The last element is considered by many to be a symbol of the steampunk style itself.

Distinctive features in interior design
One of the main places of a room in the steampunk style are occupied by water and heating systems. They are not masked, on the contrary, they are exposed to public view.

A distinctive feature of the style – the pipes are exposed.

Entourage is complemented by original decorative objects: images and models of an airship, airplane, balloon, etc.

The features of this style include:

the use of exclusively natural materials;
atypical lighting – lamps that resemble Victorian sconces or gas lamps;
the presence of retro stylized furniture: paneled with wood or with a copper “dusting;
the use as decorative elements of gears, printed illustrations with maps to search for treasure, compasses, antique clocks, etc;
the indispensable presence of objects from the past: typewriters, copperware, gramophones, and telephones.
A classic room made in the style of steampunk is the perfect atmosphere for a scientist and lover of science fiction, who lived in the last century. Here and the ceiling, floor, walls, and furniture sets, decor will be associated with the Victorian era and fantastic literary works, a past where there was no hint of a computer, even modern electricity.

The ceiling must be brutal and asymmetrical, with the obligatory presence of decorative elements. Must-have – a great height, which is sometimes achieved with the help of lighting and light toning, arched structures, columns, arcs, stair stepping up. The optimal color scheme – pastel colors or picture of the starry sky, a possible decor – attached the body of an airplane or blimp, metal strips with screws and rivets.

The floor in country rooms, made in the steampunk style, is usually oak. For urban bedrooms and living rooms often choose a suitable parquet or laminate, bathroom and kitchen – ceramic tiles with an imitation of discreet, dark stone, marble, rough sea pebbles, paving stones.

The walls are also finished with natural materials, bulky options are welcome like stone and aged wood. If the budget is limited or initially modest, you can just leave the concrete walls or wallpaper, corresponding to the stylistic direction.

Steampunk wallpaper: what to look for in stores?
Pay attention to products with luxurious decor and elements characteristic of the era. You can take collections that directly “in the head” recall the main theme – rolls with drawn gears, clocks, a variety of mechanisms. Suitable and those with futuristic images, balloons, airships. Excellent will look and imitation of brick, rust, antique maps, concrete, metal.

So what is a steampunk room like?
It certainly looks outdated and consists of obsolete items. If there is a stove in the kitchen, it is definitely a gas stove, and it feels like your grandmother still had time to use it. Is there a computer in the office? Then with a very unusual “peripheral” – a keyboard in the form of keys from a typewriter, a screen in the spirit of Soviet TV-receiver and a massive iron speakers. If you are not happy with such a juxtaposition, limit yourself only to appropriate to the style of finishing materials and accessories.

Not a standard tea party living room
Walking into such a room, you immediately understand: here live very brave, unconventional-minded people. They know a lot about history, they spent a lot of time reading fantasy novels, and they are not afraid to combine strange things together. They somehow managed to use the space organically: there are massive objects and small, different textures and colors, and the room doesn’t look cluttered or empty. It’s easy to move around in spite of the “creative” clutter.

It seems that the repair has not been done for a long time, although in fact you may have recently finished all the finishing work. This impression is created by the choice of materials: rough plaster, concrete, wood flooring, metal structures, the presence of rusty iron. A special atmosphere in the steampunk living room is created by unusual lighting fixtures, about which we told above.

As a background and base colors, designers are advised to take neutral dark tones. For variety and arrangement of accents, you can add a couple of bright details to them: a carpet, decorative pillows, curtains. Be sure to use furniture on wheels, items that are partially made of metal, already broken mechanisms. And think beforehand, how will you decorate your walls: hang a large map, a model of a flying machine, a steampunk picture or a set of photos? There are enough options, you can even build something yourself.

The bedroom – a “haven” for pirates or tired scientists.
Normal bedroom with proper preparation can become a bunker, cabin or cabin. If such conditions appeal to you, order a sturdy, bulky, wooden bed. Look at Victorian-style pieces to have at least a general idea of the models.

For wall decoration, experts recommend using gray wallpaper that imitates metal sheets, decor – large clocks, “panels” of gears, bolts and other parts, a huge compass, intricate drawings and diagrams. As zoning tools are good decorative arches, additional items of furniture – a dresser or a truce.

“Not porcelain” bathroom in the style of steampunk
The toilet and bath are probably the most interesting rooms for this trend. Here is where there is a reason to go wild… You remember about open water systems, right? Exactly! Here you have both regular and decorative pipes, and the opportunity to use alternative plumbing. Fortunately, at least the materials used are noble: granite, marble, stainless metals. And even very aesthetically pleasing and interesting look taps, showers – as if “teleported” to us from the 1900s.

The walls are usually decorated with ceramic tiles with locomotives, balloons, aged maps or other themed images. Right next to the bronze bathtub is a brick wall. Lovers of particularly extravagant solutions are advised to construct an unusual design for water procedures – in the form of a submarine, airship, pirate ship. Furniture sets should have a glossy surface to reflect the light and compensate for the lack of light colors and natural light.

A nursery for dreamers and future engineers
Steampunk – a style that can be interesting not only for adults. Some boys are still reaching for different pieces of iron, happy to help dad fix cars, tube TVs, not mind to disassemble the parts of the old clock that hangs at grandpa’s dacha. They look at the “retro-futuristic” movies and read books by world famous science fiction writers. For these “young technicians,” the room can be a real source of inspiration and an opportunity to implement their ideas.

If you do not go overboard, you can create an unusual, but quite comfortable atmosphere. Of course, you should not pay 100% tribute to style in terms of lighting, the priority is the child’s health, vision and posture. It is also desirable to adhere to all safety rules and use only smooth, chipped and crack-free objects. Thanks to the globe, trunks, atlases and maps, some artifacts your child will acquire knowledge, will study geography, history, physics and other subjects at school with great enthusiasm. Unusual interior will help to develop imagination and creative thinking. Another advantage – you can involve the child in the design of the room and spend their leisure time together.
